ABOUT THE EVENT

Choosing the apprenticeship pathway often means charting a course that looks very different from the traditional route. And for many aspiring attorneys, it can feel both exciting and full of unknowns. You may be wondering: Can I actually become a lawyer without law school? What is the legal apprenticeship actually like? Is this pathway realistic for someone like me? What It's Like to Be a Legal Apprentice is a free, one-hour virtual session that gives aspiring legal professionals the chance to speak directly with women who are on the apprenticeship pathway. You’ll connect directly with Kat and Briana, two Esq. Apprentice program fellows who are current legal apprentices, and our Founder & Managing Director, Rachel Johnson-Farias. Whether you're curious about the legal apprenticeship as a pathway to the legal profession, or are actively considering applying to our program(s), this is your opportunity to ask questions, connect with current apprentices, and learn what becoming a lawyer without law school can really look like. . This event is free and open to all. We'd love to see you there.

Tell me more about Esq. Apprentice’s programs.

Esq. Apprentice creates access points to the law so we can help women turn law jobs into law careers. Through our apprenticeship program, we offer an alternative path to becoming a lawyer without attending traditional law school. Participants complete California's legal apprenticeship requirements by studying under the supervision of a licensed attorney while receiving structured curriculum, mentorship, accountability, and a supportive community through Esq. Apprentice. The program is designed to make the legal profession more accessible for aspiring attorneys who have historically faced barriers to law school. The Excelerator is Esq. Apprentice's legal workforce development program designed to help young women of color explore meaningful careers in the legal profession–as paralegals, legal assistants, or lawyers. Through this three-month preparatory program, you’ll gain a practical introduction to the law, explore the kind of advocate you want to become, and build relationships with a supportive community of mentors and peers. Whether you're considering a legal career or preparing for the apprenticeship pathway, the Excelerator is designed to make the law more accessible, less intimidating, and more connected to your future.
